A POPULAR Tyne Valley drinking hole used it’s picturesque outdoor space to benefit a worthy cause.

The Boatside Inn at Warden hosted a late summer garden party, which raised £880 in aid of Tynedale Hospice at Home, a local charity which supports people with life limiting illnesses.

The socially-distanced event included live music from Mike Gatto and the Charwhallahs, while those in attendance were able to enjoy stone baked pizza and a selection of guest ales.

Use of the Boatside’s popular tipi and an outdoor bar enabled party goers to soak up the atmosphere while maintaining social distancing regulations.

Tynedale Hospice at Home provides home-based end of life care, pre and post bereavement support and a hospital transport service for those with a life-limiting diagnosis living in Tynedale, West Northumberland and Ponteland. It also supports families.

The charity’s senior fundraiser, Cathy Bates, said: “Everyone who attended the event has told us what a brilliant time they had.

“Matt and all of the team at the Boatside worked so hard to make it such a success.

“This is the second fund-raiser the Boatside has held on our behalf and we are so grateful for their continued support.”
