MORE than 60 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Northumberland yesterday.
The latest figures from Public Health England showed that the county's total number of lab-confirmed cases of the virus stood at 2,397 - an increase of 66 on Saturday's 2,331.
Northumberland County Council's data showed there were 377 confirmed cases in the last seven days, a rate of 117.7 per 100,000.
However, NHS England's newest figures showed that no new deaths attributed to COVID-19 were recorded at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals yesterday.
The death toll at the trust's hospitals remains at 207.
The R rate for the North-East and Yorkshire remains at 1.2-1.5.
Nationally, 34 people died on Saturday after contracting the virus. The death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 41,971.
Furthermore, 6,042 cases were confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of cases in the UK to 429,277.
