A MAN who was stopped and searched by police has received a £400 fine after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine.

Alex Duxfield (26), of Broomhill Road, Prudhoe, was stopped by police on June 16 earlier this year.

North Tyneside Magistrates' Court heard how a search of his car found the drug hidden in the car and on his possession.

Duxfield was fined £400 for possession of the class A drug.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
