JOBSEEKERS in Northumberland in search of a rewarding career can now apply to one of more than one hundred new Jobcentre work coach vacancies.

Getting Northumberland back to work as quickly as possible is vital as the UK strives to build back an even stronger and more resilient economy amid the coronavirus pandemic..

Thousands of new work coaches are now set to be deployed to towns across the country to help get the best out of people and make sure they have the support they need to get back into work.

They will deliver new flagship programmes, such as the £2 billion Kickstart Scheme - a key part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs - which puts young people receiving benefits first in line for new, high-quality, six-month roles provided by employers from all sectors.

Placements will see workers given a wage for the duration and the chance to build their experience and professional networks.

Increased support for 40,000 jobseekers of all ages will also be available through the Department for Work and Pension's sector-based work academy placements which received a £17 million funding boost this summer and will help people learn new skills through a mixture of work experience and training.

Work coaches will offer vital retraining to people looking to start a new career, and support for those who need to update their skills and CV, or simply prepare for an interview.

Minister for pensions and financial inclusion, Guy Opperman, said: "Our work coaches provide crucial, personalised support for millions of people every day, and supported record high employment in this country at the start of this year.

"They will be at the heart of our recovery as we build back better from this pandemic, which is why across the UK we are recruiting thousands of new work coaches, and in Hexham, to help jobseekers get back on their feet.

"As a work coach you will make a real difference to the lives of people in your community, including through government employment programmes, such as the £2 billion Kickstart Scheme, which will give young people a leg up onto the career ladder.

"If you think you’re up to the challenge, please apply today.”

The work and pensions secretary is doubling Britain’s work coaches to 27,000 nationally.

Applications close on Wednesday, September 23.
