A PATIENT has died from coronavirus at a Northumbria Healthcare hospital for the first time since July.

The latest figures from NHS England showed the death toll at the trust's hospitals now stands at 203, after a death from COVID-19 was recorded on Friday.

It's the first time a death attributed to coronavirus has been recorded at the trust's hospitals since July 2.

Furthermore, new data from Public Health England showed that 32 cases of the virus were confirmed in Northumberland since Saturday.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in the county now stands at 1,806 - increasing from 1,774 on Saturday.

It comes as care homes across the county have closed their doors to visitors once more as the virus continues to spread across the North-East.

Nationally, there have now been 368,504 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the UK - an increase of 3,330 on the previous day.

The death toll now stands at 41,628 - an increase of five on the previous day.
