THERE have been no deaths from coronavirus at the county's hospitals in more than two months.

According to the latest data from NHS England the death toll at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals remains at 202 - a figure that has not increased since July 2.

Almost 50 people were admitted to hospital suffering from coronavirus yesterday as cases continue to rise.

However, according to the latest figures from Public Health England, the number of people living in England who are being treated for the virus in hospital has risen by 47 to 600, up from 553 the previous day.

That figure remains low compared to the height of the pandemic, and just 63 patients are on mechanical ventilators.

In Northumberland, the total number of lab-confirmed cases now stands at 1,774, a rate of 550 per 100,000.

Nationally, there have now been 361,677 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus across the UK - an increase of 3,539 on the previous day.

The death toll from COVID-19 is now 41,614 - an increase of six on Friday.
