PLANS have been approved to give a tired shop front in Carlisle city centre a new lease of life.
The application will see a new shop front installed on the former H. Samuel jewellers building on English Street. Carlisle City Council planners gave the green light to the proposals on September 4.
"The proposed works aim to significantly improve the shopfront/glazing offering to the property by removal of the existing single glazed timber frame units at ground floor level, and replacing these with new double glazed metal frame shopfront door and window units," says the application.
"The intention of these works is to improve the landlord’s building asset and increase the usable internal space of the property."
H. Samuel Jewellers branding will be removed as part of the works.
The applicant is Michael Coulthard of Silverstone Building Consultancy.
