A showstopping photography exhibition will debut at the Allendale recreation area next weekend.

The Showstoppers exhibition intends to mark the fallow year of agricultural shows, and continue local traditions of making, creating and showing off the results of passions and pastimes in friendly competition.

Wideyed photography collective is inviting those who would have normally attended and entered the agricultural shows to enter their best photographs of their best entries instead.

The competition drew 370 entries from exhibitors aged three upwards, and in true agricultural show style, all the submissions will be available to view for the public can decide if the judges have made the right call.

The winners exhibition features work made by children, florists, horse breeders, farmers, photographers and allotmenteers.

All winners will receive a rosette and the judges choice 'Best in Show' will also receive a copy of Wideyed's newly published photo book entitled Agri[culture].

The exhibition will tour to Allendale on Saturday, September 12, and Eggleston on Sunday, September 20.

Showstoppers is funded by Northern Heartlands via Arts Council England’s Covid Emergency Response Fund, and DCC Arts and Culture grant via County Durham Community Foundation.
