A SUSPECT in a murder investigation was arrested in a Tyne Valley town last week.

The 32-year-old man was detained in Haltwhistle in the early hours of Thursday morning.

It followed an extensive police search which saw a helicopter drafted in for assistance.

Officers from Northumbria Police patrolled the area to assist in the West Midlands Police investigation.

Word spread quickly across the district as rocked residents took to social media with concerns.

It was later confirmed that the man arrested was David Rogers, of Nora Street, South Shields.

He has since been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of his brother Thomas Rogers in Birmingham.

Another brother Samuel Rogers, aged 30, and Ryan Hurt, 22, have also been charged with murder.

Thomas was discovered on a busy road on August 22, before being rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem revealed he died as a result of a stab wound to the chest.
