POLICE are investigating after a 22-year-old man died after taking ill in a Tyne Valley village this weekend.

Officers are appealing for information after the man was taken ill in Corbridge, before dying in hospital.

The man has yet to be identified by emergency services.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "“We can confirm we received a report that a 22-year-old man had been taken ill in Corbridge on Saturday afternoon and sadly later died in hospital.

"Inquiries into the circumstances around his death are ongoing but there is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.

"Anyone with information about the man’s death are asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 756 29/08/20.”

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they were called to a private address in the village on Saturday afternoon.

However, they were unable to give any further details.

A spokeswoman for NEAS said: "We were called at 14:42 on Saturday 29 August to a private address in Corbridge where we dispatched two double crewed ambulances and a specialist paramedic.”
