FINE musical talent from Hexham and beyond emerged from lockdown to take to the stage last week.
The celebration of music, theatre and sunshine lived up to its name as Hexham Abbey’s Cloister Lawn hosted its Under the Sun live event on Saturday.
Crowds were treated to a stellar line-up of local acts including The Hex Pistols, Calum Tordoff, Ian K Brown, Pete Ward & Friends, Chris Kelly, Lauren Simms, Elle Sunderland and Sam Shields.
Crowds gathered across the lawn in a socially distanced manner
The event, funded by Hexham Town Council, Hexham Community Partnership, Core Music and the Queens Hall was the first of its kind in the town since lockdown.
Mayor of Hexham, Bob Hull, praised the performers and crowd for turning out.
He said: “It was a great celebration at the end of August, which brought people together at the end of a very difficult period with lots of entertainment and good music enjoyed by all.”
Event organisers, Hexham Abbey, praised the event's success and called to make the occasion and annual occurrence.
