A MAN has been charged with carrying a crossbow in a public place.
Edward James Hely Kirby (49), of Branch End Terrace, Stocksfield, is accused of possessing the weapon in his street on June 2. He will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on September 10. Kirby appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday and pleaded guilty to possessing the class B drug cannabis. He was fined £80, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.
