A MAIN road in a Tyne Valley village is down to one-lane only after roadworks got under way on Monday morning.
Manual stop and go signs are in operation at North Bank, in Haydon Bridge, where both the high school and the doctor's surgery are located.
The roadworks, to enable Northern Powergrid to carry out essential maintenance to its electrical cable network, covers a 100-yard stretch from the medical practice, to the level crossing at the railway station.
Although the stretch is down to one-lane only, there is access for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Northern Powergrid said it was essential to refurbish and replace underground and overhead power lines to ensure a safe and fully operational electrical service.
