A COUNTY councillor has spoken of his pride after house prices in his ward rose significantly over the last three years.

Coun. Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, was speaking after figures revealed that the average house price in the town had increase by £21,372 over the past three years.

According to Rightmove, the average price of a home in the town was £184,663 in July 2020, up from £163,291 in July 2017 - an increase of 13.1 per cent.

Coun. Stewart believed it was down to a significant investment in the town.

He said: "Over the last three years, significant investment has been made into the town which is still continuing.

"The ratings of the schools in the town according to Ofsted are now high.

"Prudhoe has a range of shopping & other business facilities and a range of employment opportunities.

"The community spirit, leisure & sporting offer also adds to the town.

"It is clear now that new residents as well as those who have been here for a while are feeling very proud of Prudhoe."
