A TYNE Valley forest school has reached out to teenagers using its facilities, asking them to join the group.

Stomping Grounds Forest School in Prudhoe put out a plea on social media posted after they discovered groups of young people had been repeatedly using the site.

The school wanted to encourage parents and teenagers to try and engage them in their RISE Youth Project.

Posting on Facebook, it wrote: “Parents of young people in Prudhoe – do you know where your teenagers are and what they’re up to?

“We’ve had a few visitors recently, groups of young people using our site, sometimes carefully other times not. Perhaps it’s not always the same people.

"On Wednesday at about 3.30pm a group of teenagers explored our fire circle, moving logs and building walls.

“Who are they?

"We want to meet them so we can try and engage them in our RISE Youth Project.

“We love that teenagers are spending time in nature, and really want to support that.

“We’d love to get them on board to help us shape our youth provision and share some skills.

"So if you think you know who they might be, give them a nudge to get in touch so we can give them greater access to the great outdoors.”

Social enterprise company Stomping Grounds Forest School took over land at Dukes Hagg Wood, off Moor Road in Prudhoe, thanks to a successful fund-raising campaign to complete the sale on the site last year

The company was praised by residents in the comment section for attempting to engage with young people, rather than being angry that they had been on the land.
