THE decision to close Riversdale doctor's surgery and move to Oaklands at Prudhoe just does not make any sense, considering the wide area covered by that surgery.

I have been with the surgery for 69 years, since the age of 10, and certainly did not envisage in my twilight years to be expected to travel even further to see a doctor.

It will be extremely difficult for many people to even try to get to Prudhoe.

I had thought that we lived in an age where progress was supposed to be made, but that is not the case here.

There will be a lot of people, myself included, wo are left feeling very vulnerable, isolated and gratefully concerned if they have a need of a doctor.
