A MUSICIAN known across the world who made the Tyne Valley his home has died after a long illness.

Known as a founding member of Junco Partners and featuring for Lindisfarne, Charlie Harcourt played to audiences aross the world in a career spanning 50 years.

The talented guitarist made the Tyne Valley his home when he moved to Newton, and he was a regular face at Corbridge's Golden Lion before his illness.

Charlie founded Newcastle's popular band Junco Partners which replaced The Animals as resident band at the city's iconic Club A Go Go, and then went on to form Jackson Heights.

His first involvement with Lindisfarne, which gained fans across the globe, was between 1973 and 1975, when he was reunited with band leader Alan Hull, with whom he used to busk on the streets of Newcastle at the age of 14.

He was reunited with his band members at the Lindsifarne Christmas Show revival in 2013 and he remained a band member until three years ago.
