A SUPERMARKET chain is offering Northumberland residents salaries of more than £30,000 as it continues to expand in the county.

Aldi is looking to hire 22 colleagues in the county between now and Christmas.

Eight vacancies are availble in Hexham, while the company is also accepting applications for its new store currently under construction at Low Prudhoe.

Available roles included store assistant up to assistant store manager, with salaries of up to £32,345.

Coun. Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, said a huge response had already been receieved.

Coun. Stewart said: "Since the opportunities were announced a few days ago there has been great interest shown.

"I hope that many local people will be able to work at the fantastic new park, which will see the wider Prudhoe community improve by greater local spending power and many other benefits.

"There is a real feeling in that town that people now wish to shop locally more than ever.

"Other businesses and many residents are eagerly awaiting the park to open."

The town's new Tyneview Retail Park is due to be completed by the end of the year, with McDonalds, Aldi, B&M and Cafe Ginevra preparing to set up shop there.

Kelly Stokes, Recruitment Director at Aldi UK, added: “As we continue to grow, we’re looking for more ambitious and hard-working individuals to join our team at stores across Northumberland.

“Our store teams are dynamic and fast-paced, offering plenty of exciting new challenges every day.

"There’s something here for everyone, from new starters looking to take their first step on the career ladder to more experienced team managers seeking a new challenge.

"We’re looking forward to expanding our team to provide an even better in-store experience."
