AN important milestone was reached by Northumbria Healthcare hospitals in the battle against coronavirus today.

According to the latest figures from NHS England, no new deaths were recorded at the trust's hospitals - meaning the figure has not risen for four weeks.

The number of deaths at the trust's hospitals remained at 202, as it has since July 3.

Furthermore, according to new figures from Public Health England, there were no new cases of the virus confirmed in Northumberland yesterday.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases remains at 1,590, as it has for the previous two days.

Nationally, there have now been 302,301 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the UK, an increase of 846 on the previous day.

The number of people who have died after having a positive test result now stands at 45,999 - an increase of 38 on the previous day.
