A MAN has denied carrying two swords - but admitted to possessing an extendable baton.

Appearing at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court last Thursday, Ted Daniel Johnson (30), of Widdrington Terrace, Humshaugh, admitted having the baton on him while driving on the B6318 at Corbridge on January 6, however, he denied two charges of having the swords on him.

He will return to court for the trial on September 18.

A charge of drink driving, relating to the same incident, will also be heard at the court case after Johnson was convicted of the crime earlier this month at West Hampshire Magistrates' Court.
