A WOMAN with life-limiting illness has spoken of her "beautiful day" after marrying the man of her dreams.

Allison Wright's world was turned upside down last month, when she received devastating news that mesothelioma, a rare type of cancer, had developed in her lung, and was terminal.

It made the Prudhoe woman, and Alan Wright, her partner of 27 years, all the more determined to get married.

And the sun came out for the popular couple, as they tied the knot at historic Hexham, House, the historic Grade II listed wedding venue, in Hexham, on Monday.

"It was a beautiful day," said Allison. "The venue was perfect, and we had a lovely ceremony before having some photos taken in the picturesque grounds afterwards.

"The support we have received, and the kind words of congratulations and support, have been absolutely fantastic."

A small congregation included the couple's daughter Sophie, as well as Allison's parents, Vicky and John Riley.

Afterwards, the wedding party joined together for afternoon tea and champagne in the couple's newly-refurbished home garden.
