A MOTORIST who failed to stop after an accident was over the drink drive limit.

At South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court last Thursday, Sarah Ann Thompson (23), of Tees Street, Chopwell, pleaded guilty to driving in excess of the alcohol limit, failing to stop after an accident and driving without insurance.

The court heard Thompson was involved in a crash in Hexham on December 21 but she drove away from the scene.

Thompson was pulled over on the A695 in Stocksfield that day and she was found to have 40 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

She didn't have the adequate insurance to drive the vehicle neither.

Thompson was banned for driving for 12 months and fined £242. She was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £34.
