Fire crews attended a Tyne Valley town in the early hours of Sunday morning following reports of a fire at a post box.
Northumberland Fire & Rescue service said a crew attended Appletree Drive in Prudhoe at shortly after 1.40am.
A spokeswoman said damage included a plastic cover over the box, which was completely destroyed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
