A MAN was taken to hospital after an incident at a Ponteland meat plant.
Emergency services were called to the Manners site on Meadowfield Industrial Estate at around 11am on Wednesday.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said the force received reports of an industrial accident, and the injured male received treatment from emergency services.
"We are not investigating as there is no third party involvement," he said.
The North East Ambulance Service said the man was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle.
A spokeswoman said: "We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, two resources from our Hazardous Area Response Team, a specialist paramedic and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance.
"We transported one patient by road to the RVI with a doctor on board.”
