TYNE Valley patients have contributed to a survey which has praised GP surgeries in Northumberland.

Results from the 2020 patient survey, published by NHS England, showed that GP practices in the county were performing above the national average in terms of patient experience.

Almost 5,000 people who took part were asked about the process of making appointments, and for their views on the care, and quality of services provided.

The results found that 84 per cent of people rated their experiences as ‘good’ - higher than the national average of 82 per cent, while people said they were satisfied with the choice and type of appointment they had been offered. Patients also praised GP website services.

In Prudhoe, 100 per cent of patients at The Adderlane Surgery said they were able to easily contact the surgery by phone and rated the reception staff as helpful.

The results have been published at a time where the NHS has optimised video and telephone appointments during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr Graham Syers, clinical chair for NHS Northumberland CCG, thanked patients for providing vital feedback.
