IT was due to celebrate its 96th year, but committee members of the Beaufront Show have cancelled this year’s event due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Organised by the Beaufront and District Fruit and Vegetable Association, the show has long been a staple in the community calendar.
The event showcases the best in home produced fruit, vegetables, baking and handicrafts at Beaufront First School every September, and sees people of all ages try their luck.
Show secretary John Middleton said: “We have reluctantly decided to cancel our show this year.
“The show was scheduled for Saturday, September 12, at Beaufront First School, our usual venue.
“The show is a very busy affair with lots of interaction between people of all ages and any form of social distancing would be very difficult to achieve.”
Last year the show’s produce auction was ran by the award winning auctioneer Drew Patrick from Hexham Mart.
