A NOTICE of vacancy has been posted after a town council member stepped down.
The vacancy has risen on Silloth-on-Solway Town Council, and a notice of vacancy completed.
The notice has been completed after Carmel Bell stepped down.
The notice gives a period of 14 days for request to be made for an election, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.
By the end of the 14-day period on July 27, if the election team at Allerdale Council has received a call for election it will notify the town council if there is to be a by-election.
A valid call for election is when 10 registered local electors from the relevant area write to the returning officer requesting an election be held.
If there is no call for election, the town council will be required to fill the vacancy by co-option.
A request for election can be made to the returning officer at Allerdale council.
