ORGANISERS of a scarecrow trail aimed at raising money for the NHS Charities Together are delighted it is drawing big crowds to an estate in Chippenham.

The trail at Cepen Park South started on Saturday and will run until Sunday. So far the modest £100 target has been smashed many times over but families taking part hope donations will continue to roll in for NHS Charities Together.

Gardens of houses on the estate have been decorated with characters from family films and many entrants created cartoon characters. It co-incides with the 72nd anniversary of the NHS.

Everything from Dumbo to Wallace & Grommit are on parade but there are others that will make crow hunters scratch their heads.

Queens Crescent Primary School has added its own crows to the trail with some made by pupils of key workers who continued to attend classes during lockdown.

One of the organisers Sue Morgan said: “This is the first Cepen Park South Residents Scarecrow Trail taking place between July 4 and 12.

“The idea came about during lockdown, the residents thought it would be a fun way to raise funds for this fantastic charity whilst giving families something to do in making and attending the trail while children aren’t at school.

“There is no prize this year due to the social distancing rules, but we hope to have prizes in future years.

The event was organised by Mrs Morgan, Natalie Uff and Laura Hart-Moore.

Letters were placed on 28 crows around the route and when collected spell out the name of a film.

So far people have been taking part on foot, cycle and even by car. The trail will be closed at 4pm on Sunday.

So far the justgiving total stands at £377. Go to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/CPSScarecrowTrail? Or to find out more go to Cepen Park Scarecrow Trail on Facebook.y movie!
