PEOPLE across Cumbria came together to celebrate the NHS's 72nd birthday and its efforts to keep people safe.

Another clap for our carers was staged at 5pm yesterday with many people also sending messages to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust on social media.

One said: "Proud to work in the NHS with so many amazing people. Proud of my journey over the past 32 years and thanks to all colleagues past and present.

Another said: "The NHS are amazing. Everyone who works in a hospital, doctors surgery, health centres and dental practices are #NHSheroes."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday led a nationwide clap for key workers, along with the woman who started the weekly Thursday night applause during the first 10 weeks of lockdown, Annemarie Plas, from the doorstep of Number 10.
