NO new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Northumberland in the last three days.

According to the latest figures from Public Health England, the total number of lab-confirmed cases of the virus in the county remains at 1,067.

In addition, no new deaths from Covid-19 were recorded at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals for the sixth day in a row. NHS England's newest data showed the death toll at the trust's hospitals remained at 200.

Nationally, the total number of people who have died after having a positive test result rose by 25 to 43,575. Throughout the outbreak, the death toll has been lower on Sunday and Monday due to a lag in weekend reporting.

In addition, 815 new cases of the virus were confirmed on Monday, bringing the total figure up to 311,965.

The Government has also now released data on the number of people hospitalised with Covid-19.

As of June 22 - the most recent date figures are provided for - there were 4,657 people being treated in hospital across the UK with Covid-19.

This is down from a peak of 20,692 on April 12, at the height of the outbreak.

93,881 tests were carried out yesterday, but the Government has not revealed how many people have been tested. Speaking on BBC Breakfast, health secretary Matt Hancock said that the number of tests carried out was the "meaningful figure".
