WORK on a major development in Prudhoe remains on schedule despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Prudhoe Estates, a joint partnership between Advance Northumberland and Northumberland Estates, has confirmed the scheme was on track to open by the end of the year.

Colin Barnes, director of Northumberland Estates said: “Despite all of the challenges we have faced with ground conditions and lockdown, the development remains on track to be completed this year.

“We have worked for ages to bring new shops to Prudhoe and it's rewarding to see the buildings now being constructed, with the prospect of attracting more investment to the town in the future.”

Richard Wearmouth, chairman of Advance Northumberland, said: “It is great to see our joint scheme with Northumberland Estates progressing at Prudhoe.

“It will make a huge difference to the town. Developments like this will be vital in propelling our economy out of the Covid-19 crisis and we continue to plan and work on projects across our county, to ensure Northumberland’s economy recovers rapidly.”

Supermarket chain Aldi, McDonalds, B&M and local coffee shop Cafe Ginevra have all confirmed they will be taking a spot at the retail park.
