A NINE-YEAR-OLD has documented the strange items she found while litter picking around the River South Tyne.

Grayce Baron, from Bardon Mill, visited the river with her parents armed with gloves, bin bags and litter grabbers to tackle the issue of household and plastic waste polluting the river.

“She definitely had her eyes opened when she saw all the waste we collected,” said mother Katie Baron. "There was a Playstation console which Grayce couldn’t believe.

“We only thought we would find household waste and farm equipment, but there was a kitchen sink, a traffic cone and a paddling pool. "

The community-spirited Henshaw Primary School pupil has previously organised a community campaign to curb the large amount of dog fouling on the streets of Bardon Mill.
