THE search is on for a budding entrepreneur to develop an unused building in Prudhoe.

County councillor Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, is seeking a businessperson with vision to breathe some life into an unused toilet block in Prudhoe into a business opportunity.

Coun. Stewart said: "The toilet block has been unused for many years with modern facilities available elsewhere along Front Street.

"Developers in various parts of the world have been successful in converting blocks into popular businesses such as wine or gin bars, and such adaptations are welcomed by the public."

The block is located just off Front Street in the town, and Coun. Stewart added that the site is blessed with ample free parking and close to a bus route.

He continued: "The building is not currently being marketed by Northumberland County Council, but serious suggestions would be considered.

"We want Prudhoe to be a vibrant area for residents and visitors with a wide offering to all.

"Yes, it's a bit of a quirky idea, but if it helps put Prudhoe on the map I am more than happy to give it a try."

There has reportedly already been interest in the site.
