A man has been left with a bust lip and swollen eyes after a suspect assault up and alley.

Police are now appealing for information about the attack that happened on Monday, May 18 between 3pm and 3.30pm.

It happened in the alleyway between Islay Place and Frostoms Road, Workington.

A spokesman for the police said: "The victim was walking in the alleyway between Islay Place and Frostoms Road when he was approached by a man. This man assaulted the victim to the face causing a deep cut to the lip which required stitches and swelling to his eyes.

"A 24-year-old man from Workington was arrested on suspicion of assault thereby occasioning actual bodily harm and released on police bail."
