ANOTHER of the county's agricultural shows has confirmed it will not take place this year.

Falstone Show, which was due to take place in August, has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

In a statement, organisers said: "Sadly the committee of Falstone Show have reluctantly had to cancel the 2020 show due to the ongoing uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic and the impact this has on mass gatherings.

"We wish to keep safe our committee members, volunteers and local residents, as well as those who take tables and trade stands.

"This is only the second time in over 40 years that Falstone Show has been cancelled. The previous time was in 2001, at the time of Foot and Mouth epidemic. Flood and high water have not deterred us over the years.

"Stay safe and well, and god willing, we will meet again on August 21, 2021."

The announcement follows the cancellation of the Northumberland County Show, which was due to take place over May Bank Holiday Weekend, and the Gilsland Agricultural Show.

The Bellingham Show and the Roman Wall Show will go ahead, albeit in a virtual format.
