A TYNEDALE village has been filled with a whole host of new faces.
To alleviate lockdown boredom and keep spirits high, Ovingham Parish Council asked residents to take part in a scarecrow competition.
The theme was ‘lockdown and scaring away Covid-19.’
After a tentative start, the number of entries rose to 71 as adults and children alike got creative, designing and displaying lifesize NHS workers, national treasures and fictional characters.
Entries were judged, from a distance, on June 1.
And with such an impressive response, it was decided to increase the number of prize winners to reflect the effort and hard work of residents.
Winners received a monetary donation from a member of the community.
