A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of deliberately setting a car on fire.
Officers from Northumbria Police attended Broomhouse Lane, in Prudhoe, just after 8pm on Sunday after receiving reports of the vehicle being on fire.
A spokeswoman for the police said a man had been arrested on suspicion of arson, and he has since been released under investigation.
Nobody was injured during the blaze and inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire.
Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South at Northumberland County Council, has reassured the public following the incident.
He said: ''I am in contact with the police, and wish to reassure the public that this would appear to be an isolated incident. Any witnesses are asked the contact the police."
