FIRE crews have managed to bring a large forest fire in the Tyne Valley under control
Seven crews from Northumberland Fire and Rescue and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue spent several hours battling the large woodland fire north of Haydon Bridge on Sunday.
Crews managed to contain the fire late last night.
The fire covered around 18 hectares of woodland. Firefighters controlled the edges of the burning area using water from a nearby pond, and worked to stop it at a boundary wall.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said crews left the site on Sunday evening, but were returning on Monday to monitor and dampen down the area.
