THE deaths of two more people who died after contracting coronavirus at Northumbria Healthcare hospitals have been recorded in the last 24 hours.

NHS England confirmed the news, which comes after no new deaths were recorded for three days this week.

However, the latest figures show the deaths occured on Tuesday, May 26. The deaths were not recorded on the figures yesterday.

The death toll in the county now stands at 188, up two from yesterday's figure.

A further two cases of the virus were also confirmed in the county, brining the number of lab-confirmed cases in Northumberland to 934.

Nationally, there are now 269,127 confirmed cases across the UK - an increase of 1,887 on Thursday.

37,837 people who have had a positive test confirmed by a Public Health or NHS lab are now confirmed to have died - an increase of 377 on Thursday.
