THREE radio stations in our region will be closed and replaced with Greatest Hits Radio as part of a nationwide shake-up.

Minster FM, Stray FM and Yorkshire Coast Radio will be replaced by the national radio station, which also operates 'Hits Radio' and 'Country Hits Radio.'

The three radio stations, which are owned by Bauer Media, are expected to be shut down in September as part of the plans.

Graham Bryce, Group Managing Director of the Hits Radio Network Brand said, “We are committed to ensuring the future of radio in local markets and serving the needs of our listeners and advertisers.

"However, our top priority right now will be to support those affected through this period.”

"In line with today’s news, Bauer Media has entered into a licensing agreement with Nation Broadcasting that will see three of their radio stations; Sam FM South Coast, KCFM and The Breeze – South Coast, also join the Hits Radio Network.

"They will continue to broadcast local shows while Bauer will provide additional network programming.

"In addition, it is envisaged that Bauer will sell national and regional advertising for all stations formally represented by FRS from June 1st."
