Three arrests have been made after an attack in Workington today involving what police describe as a "bladed article." A 28-year-old man suffered injuries in the attack, which police say are "not believed to be life threatening."

Police were called just before 3pm this afternoon to the Harrington Road area of Workington, after a report that an assault had taken place.

The road was for a time closed off while police conducted enquiries.

Three men described as "local" were then "located and arrested in connection with the incident."

"Parties involved are believed to have known one another," a police spokesman said.
