A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in Ovingham.
With the assistance of police dogs and a helicopter, police attended an address in the village after 11pm on Thursday.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Yesterday (Thursday) at 11.30pm, we received a report of a domestic at an address in Ovingham.
"A 59-year old man left the address and officers subsequently carried out a search of the area, with support from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and police dogs.
"The man was later arrested under suspicion of assault and remains in police custody."
