PRUDHOE Town Show has become the latest event to fall victim to the coronavirus crisis.
The traditional town show, which has been a mainstay for more than 50 years will not take place this year.
The show which usually takes place in September and attracts gardeners, cooks and those showing off their handicrafts, was also cancelled last year due to pressure on volunteers.
In a statement, the show’s committee said: “We regret to inform you that the committee has decided to cancel this year’s Prudhoe Town show.
“The ongoing risks from Covid-19 mean that it seems highly unlikely that we will be permitted to hold a gathering the size of the Prudhoe Town Show this year.
“We are also acutely aware of the difficult financial circumstances that many of our sponsors find themselves in and would struggle to obtain the support needed to run a successful event.”
It is hoped the show will return next year.
