FIRE crews from Prudhoe battled a suspected arson attack on Ovingham Bridge.
A crew was called out to the Prudhoe side of the bridge on May 10. It was suspected that piles of driftwood and undergrowth had been placed around the legs of the bridge and set alight.
A spokeswoman for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said: "We got a call at 9:12pm on May 10 to the Riverside Country Park at Prudhoe.
"There was a large quantity of driftwood and undergrowth well alight. The Prudhoe appliance attended."
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said the force had contacted the fire service for details of the incident so they could carry out enquiries.
