THE OWNER of a popular tea room, which plays host to children’s parties, is putting her resources to good use.

Elisa Aitken, who owns Elisa Rose, in Mickley, has been distributing craft packs to keep youngsters entertained during lockdown.

Elisa said: “I realised that a lot of the children’s parties I had in my diary would be cancelled. So, the idea was to do a batch of packs to be dropped off at houses. I put a photo on Facebook, went for a cup of tea, and came back to 200 requests.

“I realised it was something people could benefit from, a lot of children don’t have craft equipment at home.”

Over 160 packs have been delivered to children in Prudhoe and Mickley.

And 25 ‘bags of creativity’ have gone to children of key workers at a Lincoln-based Hospital, at the request of Elisa’s sister-in-law Kat Mayer, a ward sister who won Nurse of the Year last year.

“It is just a little thing, but it has been really heartwarming to see the children with them.”
