RESIDENTS and staff at a care home expressed their gratitude for donations from two national chains.

The Hexham branch of Greggs donated food when it closed in March due to government guidelines, while the Blaydon branch of Morrisons supermarket donated a variety of Easter eggs to Carntyne Care Home, in Ashington.

Diane Chrichard, the registered manager at Carntyne, said staff and residents alike were over the moon that they were in people's thoughts during difficult times.

She said: "As a registered manager of the care home, I appreciate the kind gifts from Greggs and Morrisons, and little gestures like this from people go a long way in these unprecedented times.

"It is really nice to be recognised during these times, and we would like to say a big thank you to both Greggs and Morrisons for the donations."
