PEOPLE in communities across the district have been going above and beyond to show their appreciation for the NHS at a time where their work is crucial in the fight against coronavirus.
While healthcare and social care staff continue to put themselves at risk by carrying out their key roles of looking after others, people across the country have taken to clapping on their doorsteps every Thursday night to show their thanks.
People have been showing their support in other ways too, by putting signs up in their windows and completing fund-raising activities to raise money.
In Riding Mill, volunteers Val and Alan Thompson ensured that the village showed a large and public display of thanks to NHS staff working during the crisis.
While grass cutting at Riding Mill Parish Hall, they cut the letters NHS with a heart into the grass
