ELDERLY residents in Prudhoe have been treated to some lockdown entertainment from the comfort of their own homes.

Singer Deborah Taylor-Smith, better-known by her stage name Wor Vera, performed hit songs from the 1940s and 1950s to residents at The Manors Extra Care scheme.

Speakers were on the street in three different locations to maintain social distancing.

Lauren McKie, activities coordinator at the Manors, arranged for Deborah to come and sing.

She said: "Ee’ve had to cancel our usual programme of events, but this presented an opportunity for everybody to join together and share an experience – even while we’re apart.

"We had a lot of residents coming to their windows to enjoy the show, smiling and moving to the music.

“It definitely lifted the spirits of our residents and the local community."
