AN INVESTIGATION is under way following a blaze at three chalets.

The fire took place in the early hours of Friday morning at Overdene Farm, near Ovington.

Both police and the fire service attended the incident, which took place at around 4.15am.

A spokeswoman for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said that an appliance from Hexham Fire Station attended the scene, and that an investigation was being carried out.

The buildings were unoccupied at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire was currently unknown.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “We received a report of a fire at Overdene Farm, on Friday at 4.14am.

“Emergency services attended and discovered three empty chalet buildings on fire.”

Nobody was injured by the fire.

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service was also called to a second incident in the same area later that day.

Shortly after midday on Friday, the service responded to reports of a fire at Horsely Bank Farm.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said an appliance from Prudhoe fire station attended, and put out a minor blaze that turned out to be straw and manure smouldering.
