A DESIGNER has produced child-friendly face shields for hospital workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

Jon Stynes Design, in Brampton, has created the cartoon-themed masks after the NHS and emergency services called for further supplies of Personal Protective Equipment.

The design manufacturer began creating the shields after the Royal Victoria Infirmary’s children’s ward, in Newcastle, requested protective equipment that was less frightening for children.

So far it has supplied all hospitals and emergency services in Cumbria, including care homes, and also planned to send visors to the North East Ambulance Service.

The company is making up to 500 shields a day and is fund-raising to cover the cost of materials for the not for profit project, while giving free visors to care homes and ambulance workers.
